After the 19-year-old Carlos Yulo strikes gold in the 2019 SEA Games, Mark Bautista sent him a direct message on Instagram to congratulate him.
Yulo posted on twitter the screenshot of Mark’s greeting with this caption: “Okay I’m shocked He messaged me and he followed me aswell wtf?! ” Dec. 4, This comes after Yulo, apparently thrilled by a greeting from Bautista.
The tweet has lay by over 47,000 likes and over 1,000 retweets, but several vulgar comments hinted that Bautista’s message were an indication of his sexual interest towards the teen gymnast.
Since Mark has admitted that he’s bisexual in 2018, which he spoke about in his book “Beyond the Mark” netizens put malice into the singer’s accolades for the star gymnast and some of Yulo’s fans and followers thereafter criticized Bautista for allegedly “flirting” with the athlete.
In response, Yulo took to social media to express his opinion regarding the matter, @c_edrielzxs: “It saddens me to see tweets about @iammarkbautista because of my tweet out of excitement. Kindness, message of encouragement and appreciation [are] not signs of flirting. Let’s focus on #SeaGames2019 and winning as one. ” Carlos clarified the matter via his tweet.
Some netizens also reminded the athlete of some privacy issues that might have been burst. One of them reminded yulo with a comment: @jvncnc, “think before you click”. It’s funny how some conservative people insist that Mark’s admiration for the talent of Carlos is “disguised attraction.”
At the same time, after winning the all-around category, Yulo catched another gold medal from the men’s floor exercise, and two more silver medals in the still rings and pommel horse last Dec. 3. He brought more medals for the country as he wins the events at the 30th SEA Games competition.
